“Lester has an amazingly simple way of explaining extremely complicated notions. His teaching background is very apparent when it comes to communicating and correcting technique. I would highly recommend his workshops for any level of lifter. Thanks very much for the session, I’ll certainly keep an eye out for future workshops.”

“I did Lester’s weightlifting elements workshop in early June and would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Olympic lifting or Crossfit. From mobility, to start positions through to extension and completion, I learned a ton and received personalised cues and tips. Lester has a lovely way of coaching- science based but breaks it down very basically so everyone can understand. Definitely get along to one of his workshops if you can get a spot! Thanks Lester!”

“It’s not often that you will meet someone who is as knowledgeable and insightful yet incredibly humble and down-to-earth as Lester Ho. His dedication to his craft is evident in his mission to “bring weightlifting to all”: it doesn’t matter what level you are at, there is no goal that is too big or too small. In fact, he is so passionate about weightlifting that he is completing his PhD in the biomechanics of the snatch – you can’t get much better than that! He is always willing to share his wisdom as is clear from his informative posts on social media and the many podcasts that he has been featured on. As someone who always wants to understand the intricacies of my training and programming, I am constantly learning gems of knowledge from him which have helped me evolve into a better athlete and person. Instead of enforcing someone to fit the mould of a certain style of weightlifting, Lester instead creates a mould or unique style to suit the individual, allowing them to unlock their full potential. In the few months that I have been coached by Lester, I have improved more than over the past year and a half. Lester generates such a great atmosphere at his training facility South East Strength by creating camaraderie amongst members. With his easy-going attitude, he makes training fun and relaxed yet intense and serious when it needs to be. Lester, in my eyes you are honestly the best coach ever and totally deserve this award!”

Bringing Weightlifting to All.

On a daily basis, we need to squat, stand, pick something off the ground, move something overhead. As much as these are the requirements of daily living, they are to some degree also the requirements of weightlifting movements. On a deeper level, biomechanics, motor control, skill acquisition, physiology are all elements of weightlifting movements and can be translated to many other fundamental movements we perform on a daily basis.

Whether you are an athlete who is trying to get stronger or faster, or you are an average joe looking to be able to move about freely and be strong enough for your job, the sport of weightlifting not only builds up physical strength but mental abilities.

Come find out what it is about and let me teach and share with you whatever I know.

    Hey man :),

Your blog looks awesome and really interesting! I think it’ll be really useful for me to get some ideas for making workouts more efficient, as I really want to get my strength levels higher.

Just by the way, do you know if anyone following this blog is in Nerd Fitness? I’m trying to find NF members to try and set up a blog where I can log my progress and they can see how I’m doing. I know that the NF Forums already have blogs set up for theat- I can’t get in cause I;m underage 😦

Thank you and good work! I’m looking forward to reading and following.

    • Hey Con!

      Thanks for the comment!

I am not sure of anyone following Nerd Fitness here. I will do my best to give you as many ideas as possible to help with your training! Bear with me for the time being as I am currently attending to other commitments. But I will do my best to get at least one post out each week depending on my schedule! If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a message and I will try my best to get back to you as soon as possible.

      Regards,
      Lester

  2. Hi, Lester. You opened a door this morning. Powerful stuff – for the patient and would-be-strong. You remind me of my Kung Fu teacher of many years ago. Do it one thousand times, then you will understand, he encouraged me. Measure it, too, I reckon you’d say. Thanks. See you soon. J

    • Hi John!

Thank you very much for your kind compliments! I just do what I can do to help others in the way they train to achieve their goals! If i can be of any help, I will definitely do my best! Like i mentioned at the weightlifting class today, as much as I can write a good program or teach a certain skill, it can only be as much effort as you would put in that would make the differences in the results. Also, always remember that there’s always something you can do about something. that way, your training is always in your hands. Glad you enjoyed the session this morning. looking forward to seeing you next week and helping you in the future with your training!

      Regards,
      Lester aka the Training Geek
